The Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC) of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) organised an Ethics and Culture Hour "an evening with renowned Urdu poet Iftikhar Arif". Iftikhar Arif, prominent Urdu poet and well known literary personality, has underlined the need of a definite political vision for the promotion and growth of national language in the country.

Voicing his thought at SIUT in Karachi on Saturday, he regretted that the poor quality of language in the media and deterioration of the standard of education is causing a great damage to Urdu language. Iftikhar Arif who is the former chairman of National Language Authority and Academy of Letters stressed the need to support all the Pakistani languages and give them rightful place for national activity. He said at the same time, the importance of English language in our economic and political activity cannot be underestimated. Later, Arif recited his selected poetry before a packed audience in which a large number of people from different walks of life were thoroughly entertained by his brilliance.-PR
